It was thanks to a days hunting back in 1985, that Ferruccio Ferragamo fell in love with Il Borro Estate which in those days belonged to Duke Amedeo D’Aosta.
For years the Ferragamo family used to rent the estate, with all its villas and homes, until when in 1993 the chance to buy the whole property arose; including the ruined village and the grand villa which had been partially destroyed by a bomb in the last war, but also with that touch of magic which is immediately evident and makes one believe it is “a real act of faith”.
From that day onward, Il Borro estate has slowly been restored to bring back the antique splendour of this place which was lost in time: luxury villas, private restored country houses and cozy apartments provide exclusive accommodation in this green, peaceful corner of Tuscany.
This piece of paradise has finally been brought alive thanks to the ingeniousness and passion of Ferruccio Ferragamo who, along with his son Salvatore, have undertaken the enormous project of resurrecting and preserving the immense heritage of Il Borro.
A history stretching back over one thousand years which has involved such aristocratic players as the Pazzi family, the Medici Tornaquinci and the Savoia’s, right up to the present day when the noble spirit of the Ferragamo family has definitively changed the scene.
The estate which sits at the foot of the Pratomagno mountains in Valdarno now covers over 700 hectares (around 1755 acres) is now managed by Salvatore Ferragamo for whom the Borro is a way of life and who is successfully developing two major projects; those of offering its guests this corner of Tuscany and its luxury accommodation experience made of villas and exclusive country houses, and fine wines tasting to make their stay at Il Borro Estate an unforgettable experience.
